Ongoing activities

Disabled Development Organization (DDO) a implementing organization, has been directly Teaching its supports and services to its target beneficiaries at the grass-root level through a number of projects and programs for the improvement of the overall socio-economic situation of the target peoples. During the year 2020 (1 July 2019-30 June-2020) the following activities are done:

The organization mainly works through group approach: organize the target beneficiaries into groups and provide development supports and services to the beneficiaries through the groups. The groups have been arranging weekly meetings and discussing the matters and try to solve it collectively. Reproductive health, child health, family planning, human rights issue and the social condition are discussed in weekly meeting. The practical initiative has been taken through providing law support Besides, this DDO supplies different books and magazines on the women rights and democracy, liberty, heath and social condition. Basically, in the case of development program the organization works through group approach. The Field Staff of DDO conducted and managed the program as their additional duty. It has been running since 2005 with the financial assistance of DDO and BNF contribution.

HIV/AIDS AWARNESS PROGRAM

DDO always protests against the sexual embarrassment of women. Through this program the floating sex workers and drug abusers in the society are educated regarding the harmfulness and bad effects of the use of drugs and illegal sex practice

etc. and rehabilitate them with income-earning activities. Adults and adolescents of the 16-30 age groups are the target beneficiaries of this project.

The project has been confined within the 06 urban communities in border belt areas. During the reporting period provided vocational skill training to the 100 target peoples and provided supports for under taking income generating activities.

 

Beside the other program the organization has been continuing the fish cultivation program from own fund. Under the program, members are provided credit supports for undertaking and operating income-generating activities. The main aim of the program is to help the poorest of the poor group members for alleviating their acute poverty. The group members are provided necessary technical supports for their IGAs projects.

The group members are normally provided credit supports for a maximum of two cycles. No collateral or mortgage is claimed for the credit supports. Group pressure is considered as the collateral or mortgage.

The Credit Support program is going on as per the recommendation and decision of the Executive Committee meeting of the last.

The goal of the organization is to bring change in the state of the target peoples into groups and reach supports to the individual members through the groups. According to that sense DDO gives its priority to the health sector. Because the health and sanitation sector of our local is not so well. Most of the people of our locality is not so sound as they should be. Because most of the people of our locality are unaware about their health. They do not know how to keep well and maintain their family cleanliness. The Program is being operated with the financial assistance of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Bangladesh.

Non-Formal Education Program:

Poultry rearing Program

Nature of Project: Socio-economic development Awareness build up.

  4. Motivation Campaign was conducted in the 25 above selected area to motivate on poultry rearing program.

Youth Development Programme

Nature of project: To build capacity building and increased efficiency of the poor women.
Estimated expenditure: Bangladesh Currency.

Achievement:

  1. Formation of women in village level.
  2. Sharing with the women about their legal right and awareness raising for self-employment.
  3. Aware the community about the rights of women through mass gathering and rally.
  4. Motivate local government and social leaders.
  5. Arrange community focal point and orient them about gender related issue. Develop linkage among, focal point other GO-NGO and volunteer organization.

  2. 25 group formed in villages.
  3. Arrange 4 leadership training for the target group.
  4. 12 workshop were accomplished with different head of institution, up chairman/members and local elites.

Nursery project (IGP) and A forestation

Nature of project: Environment Development projects

Achievement Objectives:

  1. To maintain the old nursery and its plants contained.
  2. To produce 10,000 new sapling plants for free distribution and plantation.
  3. To distribute the plants among the target beneficiaries free of cost.

Achievement:

  1. Requisite fertile seeds bio and chemical fertilizer pesticides procured and purchased.
  2. Selected lands are ploughed and seeds bed prepared and mannered and duly rowed the seeds.
  3. Tendered sapling duly cared as the time maturing watering spraying pesticides.
  4. Demands collected from different Govt offers and NGOS.
  5. Target beneficiaries were informed and prepared demand list.
  6. Area selected and preparation was taken for scheduled plantation
